OverC®

Eligibility and Contraindications

The 50–75 age range, risk factors and the recommended user profile; absolute exclusion criteria (transplantation, immunosuppression, cancer treatment within 3 years, and more).

OverC® is a screening test looking for early detection signals across six high-mortality cancer types; appropriate patient selection is the basis of the benefit-risk balance. This article compiles the recommended user profile and contraindications.

Recommended User Profile

  • Age: adults in the 50–75 range (Burning Rock Dx official product recommendation).
  • Risk factors: lifestyle (smoking, alcohol, processed meat consumption, physical inactivity), diet (low fruit/vegetable/fiber intake), environmental (passive smoking, PM2.5, cooking fumes, UV), infectious (HBV/HCV) and metabolic (obesity, diabetes) factors.
  • Tumor history: radically treated malignancy with no recurrence for more than 3 years.
  • Family history: cancer in blood-related (hereditary susceptibility variants) or non-blood-related (shared lifestyle) relatives.
  • People for whom traditional screening methods cannot be applied or are unsuitable.

Contraindications / Groups Not Recommended

  • Individuals under 50 or over 75
  • People who have received or are receiving cancer treatment within the last 3 years
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Recipients of organ transplant, autologous bone marrow or stem cell transplantation
  • People who received a blood transfusion within the last 7 days
  • People on immunosuppressive therapy (methotrexate, cyclophosphamide, azathioprine etc.) within the last 30 days
  • People with autoimmune or hemorrhagic disorders (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, SLE, psoriasis, Crohn's, hemophilia, immune thrombocytopenic purpura etc.)
  • People who experienced an acute infection or inflammation within the last 14 days

Symptom Rule

If symptoms possibly related to cancer — such as an abnormal mass, hemoptysis, blood in stool (hematochezia), blood in urine (hematuria) or dysphagia — have appeared within the 30 days before the blood draw, the relevant clinical departments should be consulted first instead of taking the test. Early detection tests do not replace the diagnostic pathway.

Application Note

Eligibility is assessed together with our team at application; the final decision belongs to the physician. The age range and exclusion criteria are kept in sync with the manufacturer's current product recommendations.

Rx-only — prueba de cribado con receta. Galleri® no es una prueba diagnóstica. Un resultado positivo no significa un diagnóstico de cáncer; un resultado negativo no descarta el cáncer.
