Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Galleri® and our liquid biopsy process. Reach out if yours is not answered here.

General

What is Galleri®?
Galleri® is a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) screening test that looks for a signal across more than 50 cancer types from a single blood draw. It analyzes cfDNA methylation patterns in blood with machine learning. It is not a diagnostic test.
What is a liquid biopsy?
A liquid biopsy is a screening approach that does not require a surgical tissue sample. Tumors shed biomarkers such as cfDNA into the blood from early stages; liquid biopsy tests look for those signals.
Who is the test suitable for?
It is primarily considered for adults aged 50 and over with additional risk factors such as family history of cancer, long-term smoking or occupational exposure. It is not suitable for pregnant women, individuals aged 21 or under, or those undergoing active cancer treatment. Eligibility is determined by physician evaluation.
Is a physician required for the test?
Yes — Galleri® is a prescription-only (Rx-only) screening test. If you do not have a physician, we help with physician matching when you submit an information request.
What is the price?
Pricing is per patient; it is shared during the consultation based on the process scope and your individual situation. Contact us for current pricing.

Process

How do I apply?
Fill in the information request form or call us. Our team will call you, share the process and pricing, and proceed with the physician prescription and scheduling.
Where is the blood draw done?
Two options: the Omega Çare home nurse service in all 81 provinces, or the blood draw at the Omega Genetik Beytepe (Ankara) laboratory. It is a single venous sample (2 Streck cfDNA tubes) and no fasting is required.
How long until I get the result?
The result is delivered to your physician approximately 2 weeks after your sample reaches the laboratory. The sample is processed within 7 days of arrival.
How will I be informed of my result?
The result is delivered to your physician, who discusses it with you. If a signal is detected, the diagnostic road map and genetic counseling support are planned alongside.

Results & Accuracy

What are the accuracy figures?
In clinical studies, specificity was above 99.5%, positive predictive value 66–77%, overall sensitivity 51.5% across cancers, 76.3% for 12 deadly cancers, and cancer signal origin (CSO) prediction accuracy 93.4% (CCGA, PATHFINDER, NHS-Galleri; 385,000+ participants in total).
What does a positive result mean?
A positive result is NOT a cancer diagnosis. It means a cancer signal was detected in your blood along with a predicted origin (CSO); your physician plans the necessary diagnostic work-up.
What does a negative result mean?
A negative result means the test did not detect a cancer signal at the time of screening. It does not definitively rule out cancer; you should continue your routine cancer screenings.
What is CSO (Cancer Signal Origin)?
When a signal is detected, the test predicts which of 18 anatomic regions it may originate from with 93.4% accuracy. This prediction helps your physician steer the diagnostic work-up.
Does it replace my current screenings?
No. Galleri® does not REPLACE recommended routine screenings such as mammography, colonoscopy and smear; it complements them. You should continue your routine screenings regardless.

CellsWay CTC Test

What is the CellsWay CTC test?
It is a liquid biopsy method that captures and analyzes circulating tumor cells (CTC) in the blood of cancer patients. Applied with CellsWay's patented microfluidic technology using just one tube of blood; disease course and treatment response can be monitored through serial measurements.
What is the difference between Galleri® and CellsWay?
Galleri® is an MCED screening test applied for additional screening in people without cancer. CellsWay is a CTC test used for monitoring the disease and treatment in diagnosed cancer patients; it is not used for screening. Which one is right for you is determined by physician evaluation.
What are the CellsWay test panels?
There are three panels: the CTC Identification Panel (epithelial CTC detection with a CD45⁻/cytokeratin⁺/DAPI⁺ phenotype), the ER/PR/Her2 Panel (especially for breast cancer follow-up) and the PD-L1 Panel (supporting immunotherapy response assessment). Characterization panels are used together with the identification kit.
When and how does the CellsWay result arrive?
Results are delivered to your physician as a pathology report within approximately 2 weeks; interpretation is done with physician counseling. The blood draw can be done at home with our nurse service or at our laboratory.
Is CellsWay suitable for everyone?
It can be applied to cancer patients who can give blood from a vein; however, it is not applied to patients with hematological cancers and is not used for screening in healthy individuals. The panels are for research use only (RUO); they are not used to guide diagnosis or treatment.

OverC® Test

What is OverC®?
OverC® is a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test that analyzes methylation marks on cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in blood using next-generation sequencing and machine learning. It looks for signals across six cancer types from a single blood tube (10 mL). It is not a diagnostic test; results are evaluated by a physician.
Which cancer types does OverC® screen for?
It screens six cancer types: lung, esophageal, colorectal, liver, pancreatic and ovarian. These are cancers with high incidence and mortality but limited standard screening options. When a signal is detected, the test also predicts which organ may be the source.
Who is OverC® suitable for?
OverC® is designed primarily for adults aged 50–75; it may be considered for people with a family history of cancer, lifestyle risk factors (smoking, alcohol, processed meat consumption), HBV/HCV infection or metabolic risks. It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people treated for cancer within the last 3 years, or those who had an infection within the last 14 days. Eligibility is reviewed together with our team at application.
What happens if a signal is detected in my OverC® result?
Detecting a signal does not mean a cancer diagnosis. The test predicts the organ that may be the source, guiding further examination. The result is evaluated together with your physician; clinical examination and diagnostic work-up are planned if needed. Our counseling team supports you throughout the process.

Safety & Privacy

Does the test carry any risk?
The test itself only requires a standard venous blood draw; apart from mild bruising or pain, no risk is expected. What matters is that screening results are interpreted with physician evaluation.
Is my data secure?
Your health data is protected under KVKK; transfers happen only with service providers necessary for the process and within legal permissions. See the KVKK Privacy Notice for details.
Can I take the test again?
Yes; with your physician's evaluation the test can be repeated at intervals. Follow-up frequency is planned with your physician based on your risk factors and previous results.

International Patients & Expats

Can foreign nationals living in Türkiye (expats) apply for the test?
Yes. Our center holds the Ministry of Health International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate and accepts foreign nationals residing in Türkiye. The process can be run in Turkish, English or Arabic; you can view our certificates on the About page.
I don't have a physician in Türkiye; how do I get a prescription?
The test requires a prescription. If you do not have a physician, we match you with the most suitable one to assess eligibility and issue it. Prescriptions issued abroad, if any, are evaluated during the consultation.
In which languages do you run the process?
Coordination and information are provided in Turkish, English and Arabic. The Galleri® report is issued in English; your result is explained with our language support during the consultation with your physician.
I live outside Ankara; where can I have my blood drawn?
Through the Omega Çare network we offer home blood draw service in all 81 provinces. Your sample reaches the laboratory under cold-chain and chain-of-custody rules.
How can I pay as a foreign national?
Pricing is per patient; after your consultation, the amount specific to you is sent via a secure payment link. Payment is taken with 3D Secure; the payment options available to you are explained during the call.

Rx-only — prescription screening test. Galleri® is not a diagnostic test. A positive result does not mean a cancer diagnosis; a negative result does not rule out cancer. The test does not replace the routine cancer screenings recommended by your physician. Galleri® does not detect all cancers.
